The pervasiveness of the Internet of Things (IoT) will affect your security program. Whether it be team members that are distracted by connected devices or a well-designed solution that optimizes onsite resources, there is no way to stick your head in the sand on this one.

Some of the trends we are seeing for 2018 include the growing recognition of the vital role physical security plays in ensuring cybersecurity — and vice versa.

Tied closely to board and C-suite attention, compliance will grow in importance as will scrutiny. Since the new year will not bring a reduction in the number and complexity of regulations, that means you have to be even more attentive to detail.

Threats come from all places, external and internal. To stay on top of the sources of threat, you almost have to keep your head and security program on a swivel. Keep in mind that the internal threat can also be inadvertent disclosure.
