Private security companies may apply on a voluntary basis to become approved contractors and be assessed against a range of criteria. If successful, the SIA approves the security company and the company may then market itself as being part of the ACS. Approval by the ACS provides buyers of private security services with independent proof of a contractor’s commitment to quality.
The cornerstone of ACS is the Self Assessment Workbook and its independent inspection program monitored closely by the SIA. Scoring is done based on criteria that detail the required scores, standards and compliances.
The criteria are spread across several key categories of compliance:
- Strategy
- Service Delivery
- Commercial Relationship Management
- Financial Management
- Resource Management
- People
- Leadership
